Jenny Burton had several massive hits on the US Billboard dance chart. She started off as the lead singer of the dance music band C-Bank's, 1983, Top 5 Hot Dance Music single "One More Shot". In 1983, Burton went solo releasing her debut album In Black and White.

Burton’s biggest success came a year later with the release of her self-titled album. This massive title featured the #1 dance hit and #19 R&B single "Bad Habits". The track also charted highly in the UK Singles Chart.

Also in 1984 Burton sang two songs, "Strangers in a Strange World" and "It's Alright By Me", used on the soundtrack to the film Beat Street.

 Blue Magic's 1978 Atco/Atlantic LP Message was produced by Skip Scarborough (Earth Wind and Fire, LTD's "Love Ballad," Creative Source) and is a favorite of soft soul enthusiasts. Most of the LP's songs were co-written by the group. An album that's definitely on the mellow side, one reason for its lack of huge commercial success may have been that it was released at the height of disco.

No matter, the LP brims with great make-out music: the majestic ballads "Still in Love With You," "Sweet Woman," the samba-flavoured "Can't Get You off My Mind," and the glockenspiel clop, clop-laced slow jam "Lady in My World of Love." Blue Magic picks up the tempo a bit on the optimistic "Message." Those who loved the group's two gold singles, "Sideshow" and "Three Ring Circus," won't be disappointed.

 For any fans of male soul from the '80s, Glenn Jones should be included in the list of underrated vocalists. His pure, gospel-rooted approach is remarkable for its juxtaposition of sensitivity and grit. Whether he's delivering widely octave-spanning ballads such as "Show Me," written by La Forrest Cope, or electronic dance grooves like "Finesse" he gives his all to each song and makes it a successful story.

This CD release of his first solo album may surprise fans primarily familiar with later slow-jam hits lie in R&B-driven club workouts. Highlights of the up-tempo selections include "Love Intensity" and "Keep on Doin'," a duet with wife Genobia Jeter.

This Re-Issue deserves a spot in the collection of any serious fan of top-notch soul vocalists.

Glenn Jones last album for RCA was the pleasant 1986 success, Take It From Me. The single "Stay" was a soulful hit, which also featured in the movie “Youngblood,” but overall Jones was still building his reputation after being a prime gospel singer.
