In 1984 Charles joined the legendary former Motown group "The Contours". While performing with them for the last 18 years,he has traveled all over the world. In 1988 he was part of a major tour, The Dirty Dancing in Concert Tour, which visited 9 foreign countries abroad, 48 states and 186 cities in the United States, this tour lasted for 9 months.

Charles has also received numerous awards such as... The Smokey Robinson's Heroes and Legends Award, many Gold and Platinum Albums, selling over 20 million records and also The 2000 Detroit Music Award. Even to this day Charles is still traveling and performing with The Contours.
